P&G Announces Expansion at Belleville Plant Date: December 9, 2005
Procter & Gamble is announced oin December 9 2005 that it will be expanding the P&G Belleville plant with an investment of more than $40 million over the next several years. Construction of an expansion to the facility will begin immediately to house new technology resulting in 100 full-time and temporary jobs and approximately $25 million of new economic activity for the local community. The Ontario government will contribute $2 million toward this project under the Rural Economic Development (RED) program to support the creation of new jobs and skills enhancement opportunities. This expansion will enable new product innovation in addition to current production at the Belleville plant.

"We are proud to be the recipients of this new investment to improve our product offering and to continue to develop Belleville as a key site for P&G," said Can Ackadag, P&G Belleville Plant Manager. “Our employees have proven their ability to deliver results in this competitive marketplace as we are the only site that manufactures Always in North America. Our partnerships with government and local stakeholders have been a key to our success.”

“We are very pleased to make this critical investment in the Belleville Plant with the support of the Provincial Government,” said Tim Penner, President of Procter & Gamble Canada. “Adding state-of-the-art technology, and expanding this already successful facility, will enable our Belleville employees to provide even better products for consumers across North America.”

Through the Rural Economic Development (RED) program, the Ontario government invests in projects that support sustainable rural economies and community partnerships — a key part of the government’s plan for rural Ontario.

“Ontarians deserve to have every opportunity for employment and skills enhancement in their communities,” said Minister Leona Dombrowsky, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for Ontario. “Not only will this project help make our province a global leader in the consumer products industry, it will lead to more local job creation, training, research and development, and business investment. It’s good news for Belleville, and great news for Ontario.”

The P&G Belleville plant was established in 1975 and currently manufactures Feminine Care products for the North American market and is the global supplier of Olay Daily Facials.
